  Shivratri, meaning "The Night of Shiva," is a sacred Hindu festival dedicated to Lord Shiva, the destroyer and transformer in the holy trinity of Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh (Shiva).** It is observed every month on the 14th night of the lunar cycle (Chaturdashi tithi), but the most significant celebration is Maha Shivratri, which falls in the month of Phalguna (February–March).
